This bracelet is my second leather carving project in addition to being my first piece incorporating sterling silver components. It was created as a special Yule/Christmas gift for someone very close to me. Each spring we delight in the return of Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds (Archílochus colubris) to our yard, and in the midst of our recent ice storms I thought this piece would be a pleasant reminder of milder weather. Although not to the same brilliant degree as an actual hummingbird, this hummingbird is painted with iridescent acrylics so it shimmers in the light.
The bracelet is fitted by sliding the hand through the bracelet and then tightening both ends of the ribbon. The beaded ends of the ribbon serve both a decorative purpose as well as a functional one since they will prevent the ribbon from slipping out from the holes in the leather. When the bracelet is worn the beads and ribbon dangle down from the wrist on either side.
measurements the leather portion is approximately 5" long by approximately 2.5" wide at its broadest point
Actually, it didn't take a great deal of time all things considered. Of course time always seems to go by at a faster pace when you're enjoying what you are doing.
Just start tooling a little deeper and you've got it down.
You have extraordinarily good control of your swivel knife, especially for this being your second piece ever. I hope you stick with leather because you have talent!

Enter the magical, otherworldly realm of the fairy ... featuring costumes, jewelry, custom dolls and plushies, and enchanting utilitarian items from all the sub-categories of the Artisan Crafts gallery.
This is a collection of deviations showing real Pinups in the classic Retro poses from various Artists. You'll find a variation of Vintage Pinup Queens as well as fresh modern Pinup art. If you love Polkadots, seamed Nylons, Plateau-Heels and and miles-long-Legs you should not miss this collection.
I've met many so-called artists who, through their poor art, become more popular than the real artists and make them lose their confidence. Therefore, I decided to protest by excellence using the methods, to do something for the great artists who have something to say but who are underrated because of the huge amount of poor "art".
